Old Bakes 2

So, as I have posted or baked for that matter in a while, I have had a quick look into previous bakes for you guys again. I may be just distracting myself from an essay, but have an awful cold...anyway rambling! So this one is THREE CAKES with lots of pictures, from a couple of years ago.

Okay, so this first cake is a bit of a weird one, I was being quite experimental, it was made for Andrew, but I can't quite remember the occasion. So this Cake is two different halves, the bases of the cake is a normal sponge but with a twist. One layer was made with Aero Chocolate Orange Bubbles and the other with Aero Chocolate Mint Bubbles. The Icing and filling I will take a guess as to being buttercream icing, one with green colouring the other with chocolate mixed in. The decoration was piped, as you can see not that handy with a piping bag. I also topped the cake off with Mint MatchMakers too! It was a very weird tasting cake if I can remember, it was nice but I think some of the flavours didn't come through well. It had a very nice soft airy texture though!

Next cake! So this I don't think was baked for any particular reason and the decoration took me by surprise in the end. Just a normal sponge cake decorated with butter icing again. I kind of raided the cupboard to see what decorations we had and came across loads of broken pieces of chocolate, so just kind of plonked them on with some sprinkles and ended up with this! Quite happy with the overall effect it gives!

And the Final Cake!! Now I believe my mum helped keep smooth out the initial buttercream icing base with this, as I made a bit of a mess of it. Now normal sponge most likely, may have had vanilla or cinnamon in to add some flavour. This cake was for a friends 18th birthday.  I was so pleased with the icing of the name as I am normally terrible at that sort of thing. The icing on the side of the cake was not the best so I searched through the cupboards to see what I could do to fix it and came across the chocolate fingers. Not a perfect cake, but yet again another cake I was proud of.
